FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If you are pregnant and have a regular yoga practice, keep it up (with modifications as necessary).  Your body is used to being nurtured and kept fit in this way. If you do not have a regular yoga practice, please wait until your 12 week scan gives you and your baby the all clear before starting.  Please tell the teacher you’re pregnant and adapt the practices according to their instruction.

Everyone can benefit from practicing yoga – any age, body shape or level of fitness.  Do not worry about being flexible, fit, strong or even healthy – together we can find a way to get your body moving and your mind focused. Please tell the teacher if you have any issues or injuries that will affect your practice (pregnancy, recently broken bones).  If you are in pain, ease off, take a resting pose.  It’s your practice, do what your body needs. Classes are for mixed abilities so they'll be some people who do advanced postures and others who don't. Do what's right for you today.

Wear comfortable clothes that you can move in, no shoes on the mat. Please put your mobile phone on silent during class.  If you are late, don’t worry, just slip in quietly.

Some yoga postures work on your digestive system so don't eat anything too heavy prior to class. If you feel like it, sip water during class. Keep hydrated before and after class, this will help the cleansing practices flush out your system.

During the postures try to stay focused on what you're doing. If you notice thoughts arising, notice what they are and let them go. You can learn a lot about yourself this way. Feel free to ask questions during class and share your experiences with the teacher afterwards.

Yoga is a practice; some days you will find it easier than others to do the postures and concentrate your mind.  Accept where you are today and just practice.
